RDQCA Starts New Holiday Tradition

Some folks in the LGBTQIA+ community don't have a family in the same way others do. Some folks had to say goodbye to their birth family for the sake of their mental health, some folks have been disowned, and some folks have to smile and pretend to be something they aren't.

To all of these folks, who have not been accepted by the family that raised them, the Red Deer Queer Community Association extends a hand of love and support in the form of Letters From Home.

Letters From Home will be an attempt to show folks at one of the hardest holidays, what it's like to be embraced for who you truly are and loved deeply for it. Letter writers might only know your name (and possibly your address) but that is all we need to call you family.

For those that prefer a more physical experience in addition to their Letter From Home, RDQCA is teaming up with CAPS and TANAS to celebrate the holidays with everyone in the community. Details are currently pending, but you will see more as they come on our social media and of course, in the December newsletter.

If you would like to be a letter writer for Letters From Home or you would like to sign up to receive one, please follow the link at the end of this post and you will find a sign-up sheet on this website.
